Thirty‑Three Years in the Making

April 1, 2026

On April 1, 1993, Westpower began with little more than determination and belief.

“Westpower was born. No money, bootstrapped all the way.”
— Dave Goddard, President

What started as an idea has grown into a company shaped by resilience, hard lessons, and the people who chose to see the vision through.

Recently, in the Calgary shop, a new 5” CNC horizontal boring mill was being installed. Moments like that invite reflection, not just on technology, but on the journey that made it possible.

“I couldn’t help thinking about everyone I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years, taking the vision and turning it into a company that is responsible for almost 200 families.”
— Dave Goddard

Like any long‑standing industrial business, the path forward was not without its challenges. Growth was earned through difficult cycles, persistence, and an unwillingness to cut corners.

“Lots of tough times, and I still like calling our annual Calgary Christmas event the ‘We Survived’ party.”
— Dave Goddard

From its Alberta roots, Westpower expanded to meet opportunity and need. Grande Prairie, Edmonton, and Calgary were followed by Salt Lake City, Vancouver, and Esterhazy. Each location reflects a chapter of the journey, built on trust and capability, not speed.

“It’s the commitment to making our clients’ working lives better that keeps us motivated.”
— Dave Goddard

Across three decades, one lesson has remained constant. True reliability is not achieved through quick fixes. It is built through experience, accountability, and a willingness to keep evolving.

Whether through continued investment in people, refining processes, or bringing new technologies into the shop floor, Westpower’s story has always been forward‑looking. Innovation has never been about novelty. It has been about staying capable, relevant, and ready for what comes next.

Thirty‑three years into the journey, the responsibility carries more weight than ever.

“Here’s my toast to everyone that’s been part of the journey.”
— Dave Goddard

Nearly 200 families now rely on the work done across Westpower’s operations. Customers depend on solutions that improve reliability, safety, and long‑term performance. The journey continues forward, shaped by the same mindset that started it in 1993 and guided by a focus on what lies ahead.
