API 610 Pumps / ISO 13709

API 610 Centrifugal Pumps for Petroleum, Petrochemical and Gas Industry Processes

API 610 pumps are centrifugal pumps engineered to meet the stringent standards set forth by the American Petroleum Institute (API) for use in petroleum, petrochemical, and gas industry process services. These pumps are built for high reliability, efficiency, and safety, handling extreme temperatures, pressures, and hazardous fluids with ease.

API 610 pumps are designed and constructed for a minimum service life of twenty years, and at least three years of uninterrupted operation.

API 610 Pump Categories

  • Overhung Pumps – OH – Used in services where they are suitable, available in both vertical inline and horizontal pump configurations.
  • Between Bearing Pumps – BB – Generally for higher flow, pressure, or horsepower applications, where OH pumps are not suitable.
  • Vertically Suspended Pumps – VS – Used in wet pit (sump) or, where NPSHa is not sufficient for an OH or BB pump, in self-contained cannisters (can) pump applications

Technical Advantages of API 610 Pumps

Designed for more demanding services

API 610 defines several design criteria for which it is recommended not to purchase pumps other than API.

Specified service life and MTBR

API 610 requires a minimum service life of 20 years, and 3 years of uninterrupted operation.

Compliance with Industry Standards

API 610 defines minimum design criteria for many critical aspects of pump design.

Costly Maintenance and Downtime

Durable construction lowers maintenance needs, cutting downtime and lifecycle costs.
