What is Westpower-U Rotating Equipment Training?
It’s a hands-on, half-day technical training event for rotating equipment professionals. Hosted the morning of our Pig Roast on Friday September 26th, it offers small-group courses led by Westpower experts covering your choice of Pumps, Reliability & Lubricants, Industrial Mixers, and Mechanical Seals.
Is this a one-time event or will it be recurring?
This is our pilot event, but the goal is to build it into an annual training experience. By joining now, you’ll be among the first to participate and help shape future sessions.
Do I have to attend the Pig Roast if I attend the course?
Not at all, but we encourage it! Your course registration includes entry to the Pig Roast at 5PM. It’s a great way to unwind, network, and connect with the Westpower team.
Will I receive a certificate for APEGA Professional Development hours?
Yes. Every participant will receive a certificate of participation confirming their attendance and learning outcomes. These hours qualify as informal PD activities under APEGA guidelines.
How many PD hours does the session count for?
Each session qualifies for 3 APEGA professional development hours.
Can I get a receipt or confirmation to submit for reimbursement?
Yes. You’ll receive an official receipt, certificate, and course summary, everything you need to submit as a reimbursable professional development expense.
What’s included in the $500 registration fee?
You’ll get 3 hours of technical training (split between classroom and shop), instruction from Westpower experts, a professional development hours certificate, refreshments and light lunch, as well as access to the Pig Roast social event.
The fee proceeds are donated to CP Kids & Families. You get high-value training and support a great cause.
Is there a discount for early registration?
Yes! If you register before August 22, you’ll get early bird pricing at $450 per seat.
Can I register multiple team members or get a group rate?
While we’re unable to offer bundled pricing due to limited class sizes, we can coordinate block reservations for teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Let us know how many seats you’d like to secure, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your group across the available courses.
What will I learn in these courses?
Each course focuses on applied learning. You’ll get foundational theory in the classroom, then see it in action on real equipment in the shop. See the course outlines here below.
Who is this training best suited for?
Engineers, maintenance supervisors, field specialists, and anyone working with rotating equipment at industrial sites. We’ve designed it to be immediately applicable to field and plant roles.
Can I pick more than one course?
Each person can only attend one course per session. All four run simultaneously from 9AM–12PM.
What should I bring or wear?
Please wear steel-toed boots and work-appropriate clothing. We’ll provide safety glasses and everything else needed for the shop floor. Coffee and refreshments are provided in the morning, and a light lunch is provided at the end of the training.
Where is the training being held?
At Westpower’s Calgary facility: 3236 50 Ave SE, Calgary. It includes both a training room and live shop where demos will take place.
I’m traveling in from out of town. Any hotel suggestions?
We’d be happy to recommend hotels near the facility. We’re also timing the event so you can attend in the morning and enjoy the Pig Roast in the evening.
Where is the money going?
Proceeds of your course fee are donated to our 2025 charity partner, CP Kids & Families, which supports children and families living with cerebral palsy.
Can I make an additional donation?
Absolutely. The link to donate to the charity is here. We appreciate all contributions to this cause. If you or your company are interested in contributing further, either through silent auction items or Pig Roast sponsorships, get in touch with us at insights@westpowergroup.com.

We work with you to land on the products, parts, or services that best suit your rotating equipment needs and budget.
